Interesting News in the World of Korea Science...

Just read today how Korean researchers have determined how fat cells may be used to treat leukemia.  Not to make light of the disease, but it was good to know that my plump body might be used to actually help! "Korean Team Extracts Leukemia-Curing Cells from Body Fat Korean researchers have for the first time extracted hematopoietic stem cells that could help treat leukemia from fatty tissue. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Thursday said the discovery was made by a research team led by Koh Gou-young, a biologist at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology."More here:  http://bit.ly/aQvuH0

Spring is here...protect against Yellow Dust!

From our friends at the Global Village Center: "Spring is almost here and along with the beautiful flowers and blossoms comes the not so pleasant yellow dust storms. There is potential for these storms to occur at any time of year, but they are most prevalent during the Spring season.  The yellow dust is made up of particles that rise into the atmosphere from the deserts of China and Mongolia, collect pollutants, and then fall back down to earth. It is called 황사 (Hwang-sa) in Korean [emphasis added].
