Tattoo Korea

Need a tat? I’ve got the place for you. Fear not, just because you’re not back at home doesn’t mean there aren’t some kick-ass spots to get some ink. Korea may be all conservative and straight-laced on the surface, but once you dig a little deeper you’ll find those outside the mainstream thriving in Seoul. Just take a look at the folks at Tattoo Korea.

Immediately upon reaching their website you’ll find their logo splashed across the screen. It’s a morphed digitally enhanced eye with a Korean flag as the iris. Roam around the page and you’ll discover what Tattoo Korea is all about. First and foremost, they are the base of tattoo artist extraordinaire San Lee. When it comes to tattoo art she runs with the big boys. Every year her reputation grows and once you’ve seen her work you’ll know exactly why. The stable of talent doesn’t end with San; she’s the beginning of an eclectic rooster of talent including DX2, Slam, El Camino, Potter, Kuro, Ink Arts and Arirang Ink. How can you not find an artist whose style matches your taste?

Tattoo Korea takes the time to ensure you’ll be satisfied with their work. There’s no wham, bam, thank you ma’am service here. They’ll take the time to consult with you about your design, offering meaningful suggestions and ideas until you’re satisfied with the piece you choose.  And their ability to realize those choices extends to traditional, new school, realism, portrait style or Japanese influence as well as if you’d  like freehand, color or black and grey.

Tattoo Korea maintains a state-of-the-art studio. You can be sure that the equipment on hand is new, tested and ready to roll. The premises are modern, styled with a bold black and vibrant red color scheme. They also keep on hand enough gadgets to keep you entertained. Whether you want to watch a movie or surf the internet you won’t be bored that’s for sure.

You can find Tattoo Korea in the swanky Cheongdam area of Seoul south of the Han. It’s on subway line number 7. Take exit 10 and take the small street on your right. Walk up that road for about 300 yards and you’ll see a building named Bak Seoul Heun. They’re on the third floor. Check out their site for a nifty map just in case my directions are not enough.

Tattoos are absolutely not illegal in Korea. I have one, I have Korean friends who have tattoos, I know of several shops that operate openly and legally.

Older Koreans may be strictly opposed to tattoos but that doesn't make it illegal.
